  • Let's Get Started

  • How much do you spend each month?

Your estimates do not need to be perfect. Clarifications are provided under each category.

Include all spend at local and national grocery stores, such as Kroger and Whole Foods. DO NOT INCLUDE spend at supermarkets, such as Target and Walmart.
Include all spend related to airline, train, bus, taxi/ride-sharing, and hotels.
Include all spend in restaurants, cafés, and bars.
Include all spend in department stores and speciality retailers. DO NOT INCLUDE spend at supermarkets, such as Target and Walmart.
Include all spend at gas stations.
Include all other spend not covered in the above categories that you might put on a credit card. DO NOT INCLUDE rent and other bills where there is a surcharge for paying with a credit card.

    Annual Spend:
  • Almost there!

Maximizing over a short period will recommend cards with higher signup bonuses. Maximizing over a longer period will recommend cards with higher net annual rewards.
NOTE: You may be recommended fewer cards based on your unique circumstance.
You can choose to exclude point categories from your results.

Estimating Credit Score

If you do not know your credit score, see if you fit in one of these categories:
  • Excellent - you used credit cards before and have never missed a payment.
  • Good - you used credit cards before and missed at most one payment.
  • Rebuilding - you used credit cards before and missed at least two payments, or you have no credit history.

Churning Credit Cards

If you churn a credit card, you are using it just to get the signup bonus. This allows you to receive more cash back, miles, or points in a given year. However, there are a few things you should know:
  • You must pay off your cards every month. Missing one payment will heavily hurt your credit score and prevent you from opening other cards. Make sure you make your payments on time.
  • You should not apply for too many cards at the same time. Opening too many accounts will drop your credit score, and some banks will deny your application for a new card. Two or three at once is okay, but wait a few months before applying for more.
  • If there are annual fees, cancel/downgrade the card. Do not cancel the card immediately after getting the bonus as that hurts your credit score (short credit history). If you do not cancel, you have to pay annual fees that cost more than your reward. We recommend downgrading to a card with no annual fee, or call the bank to waive it if possible. Otherwise, cancel the card a month before the fee applies.
  • You should not churn if you are applying for a loan or mortgage. Churning cards will make your credit score fluctuate. If you are applying for a loan or mortgage soon, you need to have the highest score possible. We would hold off on churning until you get your loan or mortgage approved.
