The IHG includes more than 5,000 properties in nearly 100 countries, including Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Holiday Inn, and more. Points earned through the program can be redeemed for hotel stays, air travel, merchandise, and countless alternatives. The Rewards Club is divided into four levels: Club, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite and Spire Elite. Members can also pay for InterContinental Ambassador status or be invited to IHG’s exclusive Royal ambassadorship.
What exactly are the points worth?
IHG rewards points are best spent on hotel stays, for which you can usually redeem your points for 0.7 cents each. For international stays, this value can be even greater. When a list price at a certain hotel is more expensive than rooms in the same tier, you are most likely to get the best bang for your reward bucks. Transferring points to airlines is not recommended, as the transfer rates significantly diminish the value of your hard-earned points. Points can also be purchased for 1.15 to 1.35 cents apiece, but this should be avoided unless you’re just barely shy of a great redemption option.
